Flying in Namibia and South Africa

Initially it was Fabian who started the whole flying business some time last year, but he made the mistake to take me along for one of his lessons. From that time on I was hooked.... By now we both have our private pilot license and I am right now busy with my night rating. Here are some pictures from our flying experiences so far (in no particular order). The page will hopefully be updated continuously, since we plan to make a few trips to see Namibia from above. Enjoy (we certainly do)!

While staying in Lesotho, I couldn't stand the thought of not being able to fly for five weeks. After investigating a bit, I came across Malutiair in Ficksburg, South Africa, not far from Maseru. I continued a bit with the instrument flying for my night rating and could also fly two different types of airplanes, both Piper. While flying the Piper Cherokee is not that different to the Cessna 172, the Piper Arrow was more of a challenge, because of the retractable gear, constant speed propeller etc., but a lot of fun. On one flight, I was accompanied by George, a friend from Maseru, wo took most of the following pictures (thanks!).

When my brother came to visit, we took him to Swakopmund. The flight there was really nice, but unfortunately we had some rain on the way back, which made the flight not that enjoyable anymore, but we safely got back to Eros. In any case, it is really impressive to see the coastline and the dunes from above.
